Fads of the 80's

I realized that one of my children was a child of the 80's and I found this list of fads during that time. I'm afraid to say that I rememeber all of these when she was growing up and enjoyed many of them as much as she did.

1. Baby On Board Signs
2. Boom Boxes
3. Rubik Cube
4. Skateboarding
5. Trivial Pursuit Game
6. Video Arcades
7. Wrestling - Although it has made a comeback in recent years, nothing even compares with the classic years of the WWF, and the NWA.
8. Break Dancing
9. Cabbage Patch Dolls
10. Roller Skating

I'm really not sure if we will even remember what the kids of today are into. Seems like kids are so much older now than they were when my kids were growing up. Kids just aren't children anymore. We are trying to turn them into little adults. Scary!!!

Children in the Seventies

You know you were a kid in the 70's if:

• You had homemade ribbon barrettes in every imaginable color.
• You know who Strawberry Shortcake is, as well as her friends, Blueberry Muffin and Huckleberry Pie.
• You completely wore out your Grease, Saturday Night Fever, and Famesoundtrack record album.
• You made Shrinky-Dinks and put iron-on kittens on your t-shirts!
• You thought Olivia Newton John's song "Physical" was about aerobics. (*It wasn't???)
  

Boy times were really easy back then and kids were a whole lot easier to please.

Very Excited

There was a huge thing that happened at my house on Friday night. I ordered memory for my computer and after two weeks, it finally arrived. I asked a few computer technicians and also googled on the internet about how to actually do this. I was really afraid that I was going to mess things up and have to get someone to come out and fix my mistake. Good news! I actually took the cover off and installed 2 Gigs of memory to my computer. I went from snail action to lightning speed in less than an hour. Boy was I relieved that it went so smooth. I think I should update my resume on this one. LOL..............

My daughter said she is having trouble posting to my blog. She said word verification keeps locking up. I can't find where I have this feature so I can't turn off. Any suggestions???

My husband sent me an email today that he knew was going to take my breath away. He sent me a video from youtube of a little six year old girl that has a beautiful voice. I think she is probably about 8 now because this was a few years back. She is singing one of my favorite songs, "Over The Rainbow". I am going to try and link it to my blog so you can listen. It is unbelievable that God could make something so beautiful in a world that is so bad.

Today was a really crazy day. Who goes shopping on purpose in the rain. Most people stay at home on a day like today unless they have to get out. Well (deep subject), we got out and went shopping. First we stopped at the phone store to get my friends new phone checked out because she was having issues. Well, what am I going to do but look around while she is talking to the sales rep.
Bad move! I found another red phone and this one had a full keyboard. I mean, who needs a keyboard on a phone. Isn't it just suppose to have numbers so you can dial? Anyway, long story short. I bought a new phone. Don't know if I will ever get it to work, however, it did ring once after I got home and I managed to answer it. Ha!

We've really come a long way. I remember when you use to pick up the phone and the operator ask you who she could connect you with on your call. Technology - who knew.

The generation today doesn't have a clue how hard we use to have it. Now you can type something on the computer and change it an unlimited number of times before it is published. We use to use carbon whenever we wanted more than one copy of something. We didn't even have copy machines. And you didn't make many mistakes because it was a big deal to erase all those carbons. Now days if you see something you want, you just buy it on time. When I first got married, we saved up until we could pay for a item. They didn't just give credit away to anyone back then. Probably why so many people are in debt these days. We even were taught to take good care of things and get them repaired when they broke. Now it cost less to just buy a new one. The world is really moving fast these days and I am trying very hard to keep up. Sometimes it is best to just step back and watch and not get caught up in the race.

Sorry for rattling on. I do that a lot. Guess I will go get the book for this new phone and read the instructions. What a novel idea. Some people are so smart they can just pick up a piece of equipment and make it do miracles but little ole me still has to read the instructions.

Everything is looking good

Well this has been an exciting evening. With my best friend's assistance, I think I have a template that fits my personality. I also managed to upgrade the memory in my computer without any assistance. My computer is so fast I can barely keep up. LOL!

All-in-all I would say this was a pretty good week. I also went to weigh-in this week and lost another pound. Pretty soon the skinny person inside this body will make her way out. Then look out Spring. Here I come.

If I get this weight off this time, I will not let it come back. It is certainly fun to put it on but is definitely not as much fun taking it off.
